Classic Fire Glass

Classic Fire Glass was the first product range in 2004 when American Fireglass was founded by Matt and Kelly Doll in California. From those early days in their garage, American Fireglass has become one of, if not the leading manufacturers of Fire Glass in the United States.

Classic Fire Glass is available in two sizes, 1/4″ and 1/2″ thick and a range of eleven different colors. Although this was their first product, it quickly became the fire glass by which all others are judged, and it remains so today.

Top Quality Fire Glass does not emit fumes or smoke and does not create soot. It should be capable of withstanding 1300 degrees Fahrenheit and not discolor, as well as being able to resist the worst extremes of weather.

What Size Classic Fire Glass Should I Use?

If you have a standard or smaller fire pit or fireplace, we recommend selecting the 1/4″ thick glass. In a larger fire feature, the 1/4″ thick glass can look a little ‘overwhelmed.’

Conversely, the 1/2″ thick fire glass is ideal for larger fire pits and fireplaces but can be a little ‘chunky’ in smaller fire features.

Top Quality Fire Glass does not emit fumes or smoke and does not create soot. It should be capable of withstanding 1300 degrees Fahrenheit and not discolor, as well as being able to resist the worst extremes of weather.

Occasionally you may think your fire glass has lost a bit of its luster. Over time dust and dirt deposits will accumulate on the fire glass. Fear not, fire glass can be easily cleaned with a 50/50 mix of water and vinegar, rinsed thoroughly, and allowed to dry completely before being put back into your fire feature.

So sit back, take your time and choose your favorite color, and if you’re feeling creative, don’t be afraid to mix some colors.
