HPC Push Button Flame Sense Round Flat Insert Torpedo Penta Burner

This mid-range HPC Flame Sensing Push Button Spark Ignition Kit provides a compelling blend of performance and affordability, bridging the gap between basic match-lit setups and advanced electronic ignition systems. It provides battery-powered push-button ignition, integrated Flame Sensing, as well as CSA certification. It is designed for fire pits lacking electrical access but requiring crucial safety capabilities and convenient ignition.

Operation

Push Button flame sensing fire pit control panel by HPC

  1. To Light: Press the Control Knob to start the pilot gas flow, then press the Ignition Push to create the spark to light the pilot, keeping the Control Knob pressed in for 20 seconds after which you can turn the Knob counterclockwise to light the main burner.
  2. Flame adjustment: Flame height may be adjusted by turning the Control Knob up or down.
  3. If flame loss does occur, the system will automatically turn off all gas flow.
  4. Shutting down: Turn the Control Knob, slightly depressing the knob to reach the OFF position.

The Kit comprises a pan and burner manufactured from #304 stainless steel, a FPPK-HC control box with pilot assembly, and a 36″ whistle-free flex line.

The ignition system comprises a manual spark igniter (AA battery), a standing pilot with a thermocouple, and a safety pilot valve.

Propane configurations feature an air mixer. The 18″ and 24″ models offer a small lp tank option, which includes an additional Gas Line, 6′ total length (2′ Stainless Steel, 4′ Rubber Hose), and a regulator.

The flat inserts are cut from a sheet of 18-gauge, .304 stainless steel and have  ¼” weep holes for drainage. 

BTU Ratings & Dimensions

While the listed pan sizes indicate the diameter, the inserts are in actuality, cut 1/4” smaller than the listed size. For example, the diameter of a 30” flat pan measures 29.75”.

  • Size 18″ Insert is 17.75″ in diameter with a 12″ Burner – 90,000 BTUs
  • Size 24″ Insert is 23.75″ in diameter with an 18″ Burner – 140,000 BTUs
  • Size 30″ Insert is 29.75″ in diameter with an 18″ Burner – 185,000 BTUs
  • Size 36″ Insert is 35.75″ in diameter with an 18″ Burner – 185,000 BTUs

Propane Small Tank Option

  • Size 18″ Insert is 17.75″ in diameter with a 12″ Burner – 65,000 BTUs

Installation

HPC Push Button Flame Sense Round Flat Inserts require a built-in support structure, which typically takes the form of a collar around the inner parameter of the enclosure, ‘Z’ brackets, or a built-in shelf or recess.
