HPC Linear Fire Pit Trough Inserts with Electronic Ignition
This Linear Torpedo Fire Pit Kit is from the HPC top-of-the-range Electronic Ignition (EI) Series and provides high safety and control of your gas fire pit.
The unit comes fully assembled and ready to install, comprising a Stainless Steel Linear Trough Insert and T Burner with an EI (Electronic Ignition) system mounted to the underside, protected within a stainless steel valve box.
The drop-in pan design makes for a straightforward, easy installation process, in which the pan sits within a cutout area of the top surface of the fire pit structure, supported by the generous lip.
Features:
- Flame sensing technology – The Safety Pilot flame and thermocouple ensure the gas to the main burner flows and the burner is alight. If the flame is blown out, the system shuts down preventing a potentially hazardous build-up or pooling of gas.
- Automatic Relighting of the Fire Pit – In the event of flame failure the system will commence the Start sequence, relighting your fire pit.
- The EI range has options that allow the fire pit to be operated and controlled by a wall switch, remote control, whole house system, or even a Bluetooth App (HIGH/LOW model only) on your phone or tablet!
Options
Select Size
Available in six sizes: 24.5, 36.5, 48.5, 60.5, 72.5, and 96.5 inches long. The Insert width is a constant 5.4″ regardless of its length. The sizes reflect the internal length of the pan (the base) and do not include the 1.3” lip.
Select Burner
There are two Burner options. Standard T-Burner or Torpedo T-Burner, however, HPC is currently phasing out the standard burner option and once the current stock has been sold out, only the Torpedo Burner option will be available.
The Torpedo T Burner features a nozzle that is precision-engineered and according to HPC develops a bigger, warmer flame without excessive gas consumption. For more detailed information regarding the exciting new range of Torpedo Burners, please refer to SST Torpedo Burners From HPC Fire.
Select Gas Type
The kits are available in either Natural Gas or Propane versions. This EI series is unsuitable for small propane tanks, it must utilize permanent, fixed piping for fuel supply.
Select Ignition
- On/Off – Allows your fire pit to be switched On and Off by a wall switch, timer, or your whole house system. A simple on/off Remote Control is available as an optional extra but only suitable for the 120 VAC models.
- High/Low – A Smart Remote is included with this model, allowing the user to set the flame height to either High or Low. The Low setting creates a 45% reduction in flame height. The Remote also receives information from the fire pit to advise users of the fire pit status (flashing LED). Although this system cannot be used with your whole house system it can be controlled via a Smart Device Bluetooth App compatible with Apple and Android phones and allows for control of your fire pit from as far away as 20 feet.
The free Bluetooth Smart App incorporates a timer, troubleshooting codes, total operational hours, and internal temp monitoring.
Select Voltage
The EI range is available in 120VAC or 24VAC versions.
The 120VAC has a standard outdoor grounded power cord and can be plugged straight into a GFCI outlet.
The 24VAC is typically used poolside or with other lower voltage requirements. A Class II 24VAC, 4 amp, 100 W transformer must be used to power the fire pit and be able to be switched on and off from a remote location to allow for easy access or emergency.
The Fire Pit will not perform properly if the power supply rating is below 100W or the wire size is too small. HPC highly recommends the HPC SEBCO 24VAC Power Supply Transformer see link below in the related products section.
How HPC Linear Fire Pit Trough Inserts with Electronic Ignition Work
Start-Up: The system completes safety checks and then starts the flow of pilot flame gas. The Hot Surface Igniter heats up, igniting the pilot flame. Once the thermocouple heats up confirming the pilot flame is present, the flow of gas to the burner gas will open and ignited by the pilot flame.
Operation: The EI system monitors flame status, internal temperatures/voltages, and other safety parameters. If flame loss does occur, the system will turn off all gas flow and then restart by automatically commencing the Start sequence.

HPC Linear Trough Inserts are manufactured from 304-grade stainless steel. T-Burners are made from #304, 18 gauge Stainless Steel.
The Inserts are 2.5″ deep and 5.4” wide, the length is determined by the size you order. Please note that the Size reflects the internal length of the pan (the base) and does not include the 1.3” lip.

HPC recommends installing a wall switch with remote-controlled units as it creates an additional layer of protection and security. With the switch off, the device cannot operate. For maximum safety, we recommend the HPC Commercial Grade Emergency Stop as it can be also locked into the off position!

Several timers are available, and even a hybrid Emergency Stop Button/Timer. These allow the user to set a designated burn time and automatically turn off the appliance once the time has expired.
