Using a Stainless Steel Fire Pit Cover specifically designed to be used with the American FireGlass Rectangular Drop In Tray will significantly reduce the number of times you need to clean your fire glass. It will also save you from removing leaves, twigs, and other such flammable materials every time you light your fire pit.

A heavy downfall of rain may possibly overcome the drainage holes in the base of your fire pit tray leaving the fire glass wet. For safety reasons, gas fire pits should only be used if the fire media is dry, so it will take a while before you get to light it up! Also, if the drainage from the fire pit structure itself were to become blocked by debris or such, there would be an increased risk of components becoming submerged in water. Expensive ignition systems do not take kindly to this!
