La Jolla Fire Pit Powder Coated – Ignition Options
The La Jolla Fire Pit Powder Coated version has five ignition options from which to chose. These range from the straightforward Match Lit to the highly sophisticated Electronic Ignition Systems.
Simple, straightforward forward, and low maintenance are the advantages of a Match Lit system. They are also the most budget-friendly systems.
To light, turn on the gas at the shutoff valve on the fire pit, and offer up a flame over the fire glass or lava rock.
You can adjust the flame via the shutoff valve, and to turn off the fire pit, turn the shutoff valve to the off position.
Match Lit with Flame Sense
Using the Match Lit with Flame Sense system is identical to the basic Match Lit system; turn on the gas and manually light the flame.
However, in the background, a lot is going on. This system monitors the flame using a Thermocouple. Should the flame accidentally go out, then the Thermocouple will shut off the gas supply.
Shutting off the gas helps prevent a potentially dangerous gas build-up, which could occur if nobody realized that the flame went out. ( Fire pits should never be left unattended for just this reason )
Flame Sense with Spark Ignition
Basically very similar to the Match Lit with Flame Sense system but with the addition of a Push Button Spark Ignitor, which means you don’t need to take your matches or lighter out to the fire pit to light it.
Electronic Ignition Systems
There are two options in the Electronic Ignition range, 110 Volt and 12 Volt.
Both these systems have the Flame Sensing function, but they go a step further if the flame should go out. Before they shut off the gas supply, they will make several attempts to relight the flame; if that fails, the system will shut off the gas supply.
The 12 Volt system is designed for installations within five feet or less of water features, such as swimming pools, fountains, etc.
