1/2 Inch Starfire Reflective Fire Glass by American Fire Products is clear glass featuring a reflective coating on one side of each piece. While individual pieces appear completely clear, piling them together multiplies light reflecting off the mirrored facets, creating a silvery-gray aesthetic with more visual depth and contrast than you would expect. It works well with color schemes that have neutral or cool tones.
The 1/2″ size suits larger fire pits and is typically recommended for indoor fireplaces running on natural gas, as the bigger pieces leave more air pockets and create less back pressure on the gas. It is also the better choice for outdoor propane features: propane is heavier than air, and the extra space helps it rise and disperse. The exception is a burner with nozzles designed to stay uncovered, where the glass size doesn’t affect the gas flow.
