1/2 Inch Bronze Reflective Fire Glass – American Fire Glass

Not as dark or stark as black fire glass nor as vibrant as Copper, with its neutral tones, Bronze fire glass works well in both contemporary and traditional settings.  It is a very versatile color of fire glass.

If you’re feeling creative, you can mix the Bronze glass with other colors to create a unique look for your fire pit as it provides the perfect neutral backdrop. It blends well with Gold and Clear fire glass!

If you have a larger size fire pit or fireplace using Natural Gas, we usually recommend the 1/2″ size glass and 1/4″ Bronze Reflective Fire Glass for smaller fire features. However, if you are using Propane, it is best to use the 1/2″ size fire glass. This allows the Propane which is heavier than air, to rise upward more easily through the glass.

What Is Fire Pit Glass?

Crafted from high-quality tempered glass, fire glass boasts superior resilience to the elements. It is able to withstand harsh weather and extreme temperatures without damage, or alteration to color.  There is no emission of hazardous chemicals, smoke, or ash when you light up!

Domestic glass such as beer and wine bottles, jars, etc. and should never be used in a fire feature, it is dangerous to do so!

Under normal conditions and properly cared for, fire glass lasts a long time!  In fact, all Fire Glass sold at The Magic of Fire has a Lifetime Warranty.

What Is Reflective Fire Glass?

Reflective Fire Glass has a mirrored finish on one surface, multiplying the reflections of flames and light dancing off the surface of the glass.

How Much Fire Pit Glass Do I Need?

It is best to follow the manufacturer’s recommendation regarding the depth of coverage over the burner. Generally though, when using a standard burner with natural gas you can cover the burner with up to 2″ of fire glass, for Propane, this should be reduced to a maximum of 1″.

To calculate how much fire glass you need just head over to our Fire Glass and Lava Rock Calculator

It is not necessary to fill your fire pit tray with only fire glass. It is possible to utilize a filler ( we recommend small-size lava rock 1/4″-1/2″ ). The filler fills the tray up to either level with or just above the burner. The fire glass sits on top of the lava rock.

For an average 2-inch deep fire pit tray, this would be about an inch depth of lava rock with an inch or so of fire glass on top. This reduces the amount of fire glass required and can be a considerable saving.

Lava rock is much less dense than glass, 10 lb of lava rock will provide approximately double the coverage of 10 lb of fire glass.
