Match Light or Match Lit, as they often are referred to, are the most straightforward type of fire pit kits. Easy to install and maintain, they are ideal for DIY projects. This range of kits is suitable only for outdoor vented natural or propane gas burning fire features. Not for indoor use.

Lighting the fire pit is simplicity itself. Just turn on the gas and use a taper or long match, light the gas. The flame height adjusts via the gas valve, and when you’ve finished for the evening, turn off the gas, and that’s it.

The Rectangular Fire Pit Pan with Match Light Kit from American Fireglass is a range of five sizes of drop-in pans manufactured from 304 Grade Stainless Steel. There are models for either Natural Gas or Propane.

Rectangular Fire Pit Pan with Match Light Kit Specifications:

The drop-in pan design makes for a straightforward installation process, in which the pan sits in a cutout ( see chart below ) in the top surface of the fire pit structure, supported by the generous one and a quarter-inch lip.

These drop-in pans have weep holes in the base to prevent the accumulation of water and stop it from getting into the gas pipes.

Supplied with the pan and burner is a 34″ Quiet-Flex Gas Line and a safety shut off valve and fittings to connect to the base of the tray.

Drilling the gas holes in the burner, rather than punching them results in a smoother gas flow, producing a non-flickering and quieter flame.

Punching the holes leaves a burr on the inside of the burner interrupting the smooth flow of the gas and adversely affecting the flame

The Propane model also includes a Propane Tank Regulator and an Air Mixer Valve.

Using a drop-in pan creates a false bottom to the fire pit, which reduces the amount of fire glass or lava rock required. It also helps create the void inside the fire pit structure necessary for venting.

These kits qualify for a Lifetime Warranty if registered with the manufacturer shortly after purchase.
