The Billow Fire Pit has a graceful curved design that is inspired by the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean, as seen from the coast of California.

Whether you are looking for a fire pit with remote control capability or just a simple match lit fire pit, the Billow with its 5 Ignition Options and range of 10 colors and finishes is a great place to start.

The Outdoor Plus manufactures their products in a facility in California.  All items are made to order and have a manufacturing time of up to 3 weeks. The item is then shipped directly to the customer using a standard shipping carrier.

The Outdoor Plus is rightly proud of its Made in the USA status.

Options

Color & Finish

The four different finishes that are available for the Billow are as follows:

Powder Coat Steel

Powder Coat is not paint. It is a powder that is electro-statically applied and then heated to fuse itself to the object it is applied on. It is UV-resistant, and strong enough to resist damage from everyday use, and will not chip or crack under normal use.

There are 2 textured colors – Silver Vein and Copper Vein

There are 5 smooth color options – White, Gray, Pewter, Java, and Black

Stainless Steel

A Stainless Steel Fire Pit looks amazing but will require a bit of care to maintain its good looks. Steel rusts. Stainless Steel (SS) rusts less or should we say, Stains Less! Chromium in the SS reacts with the oxygen in the air and forms a protective layer that makes stainless steel highly resistant to corrosion and rust. Any damage to this, and rust forms. However, with cleaning and care, the layer self-heals.

Hammered Copper

A hammered copper fire pit from The Outdoor Plus has two coatings to help protect it against copper’s naturally forming green patina. First, a patina coating which is responsible for the dark & rich finish is applied. Second, a clear coat is applied to seal and slow down moisture penetration.

It is impossible to completely prevent moisture from making contact with the copper so you will always get a naturally occurring patina over time.

COR-TEN® Steel

A Corten Steel fire pit will have a “rust” layer of residue, we suggest not touching or sitting on the COR-TEN® Steel. The COR-TEN® Steel may stain the ground but can be power-washed with water. It will also patina over many years into a darker mocha-looking metal instead of the bright yellow-orange that it originally started with.

Please note that all these fire features are handcrafted on order by order basis. Some minor variation in color is likely. All sales are final for this product.

Size

Gas Type

You have the option for either Natural Gas or Propane. This is a fire pit with internal propane gas tank storage. A 20 lb propane tank (not included) can be hidden away inside the fire pit, accessed via the door at the end of the fire pit.

Ignition

All Billow Fire Pits have the full range of 5 Ignition Options.

Match Lit

This is the most simple of Ignition Options whereby the fire pit is lit by turning on the gas supply to the burner by turning the key valve, and lighting the burner using a lit taper.

Match Lit with Flame Sense – LC Certified

This incorporates a safety system that senses the presence of a flame. If the flame has been blown out then the gas supply to the burner is cut off, preventing the accumulation of gas.

Spark Ignition with Flame Sense

This option adds a spark ignition system whereby the gas is turned on as above but the burner is then lit using the spark ignition button. The Flame sense safety system will monitor the flame and close of the supply of gas to the burner in the event of flame failure.

Electronic Ignition – CSA Certified

The Electronic Ignition option utilizes Smart Weather Electronic Ignition System (SWEIS) by The Outdoor Plus.
This is a very compact system that has been tested to extremes and is probably the most robust system you can get. The tests have included freezing the unit in a block of ice for three days and then firing it up, still encased in ice, it lit the burner the first time! Testing has shown this to relight the flame in winds of 55 mph.

The SWEIS monitors the flame, and should it extinguish, makes several attempts to relight the burner. If that fails, the system automatically shuts off the gas supply to prevent a dangerous gas cloud accumulating.

There are two different options for electronic ignition.

12 Volt
Designed for installations within five feet or less of water features, such as swimming pools, fountains, etc. and includes a 12VAC Transformer. It can function via a wall switch, pool controller, remote control, or home automated systems.

110 Volt

The electronic ignition can be wired up to a light switch or dial timer, or be controlled by remote control (not included).
