The Standard Capacity Natural Gas Match Lit Kit, manufactured by American Fire Products (AFP), is the simplest and most affordable form of fire pit ignition available. This basic kit provides everything needed to connect to a residential Natural Gas (NG) line and includes a Ball Valve and Quiet Flex Gas Line to control the flow.
To light the burner, turn the valve to release the gas while holding a lit match or long-stem lighter over the burner to ignite the gas.
Ignition Safety Advisory
While the components of this Standard Capacity Match Lit Kit can technically handle gas flow up to 290,000 BTUs, we advise caution when using the match-lit ignition method on burners at the higher end of this capacity. It is advisable to use a Spark Ignition Kit, which provides a greater distance from the burner, mitigating the initial flame flare-up (“whoomp”) that becomes excessive when the burner exceeds a certain gas flow threshold.
